Rewind (7.4.10)

My deepest apologizes for my blog hiatus. There was some serious complications with my computer being held hostage at Apple, lack of "personal" use for the work PC, and a tinkle bit of laziness on my part. But never you fear, I am back.

Let's rewind, shall we...

I work a lot. So much that I actually worked every single day in June. That's right, not one day off. This intense work schedule has made me appreciate a day off more than any 9 to 5er could ever understand. So image my excitement to learn that I had not one, not two, but three days off over the 4th of July weekend. Filled with joy to not be on the clock for the whole long weekend, I began to explore my options of what to do with myself for this mini vacation. After discussing with my best friend Liz, I decided to head down to beautiful Los Angeles (again) for the holiday.
I flew out on Friday after work, and got in rather late due to some sort of gate issue. Meet up with a whole welcoming group and headed back to Calabases for a relaxing night at Liz's.
Saturday we were up early and off to the baseball fields to get a scrimmage softball game in. It was hot out, which was a very nice change from the drab 50somethings it had been in Seattle. In fact, Liz got a funky tank top tab line.

After shagging some balls and putting up some big sticks we went and got some sushi to tide over our hunger. Yum yum yum.

The rest of the day was spent at the beach getting a tan, playing pick up games of soccer, discovering wild marina life (aka jellyfish), and enjoying each other's company.

Sunday, Independence Day, was spent pool side at Liz's apartment building. We, and by we I mean "the boys", barbecued up hot dogs and hamburgers while us ladies worked on our tans. We had dancing and swimming, and a grand singing of our national anthem. I was a very proud American that day!

I unfortunately had to leave at 6am in the morning, which I have vowed to never book a flight that leaves that early ever again. It was wonderful catching up with the new friends I have made in California and of course with my bestie. All and all it was a fantastic way to spend my few days off.

God bless America.

  1. What a happy weekend. Let's go back to that. Also, I want to hear your plans for Liz's Bachelorette Party...and your glorious return to California. XO, Best Ho.
