Heading on Down to Tulip Town

My mother came and visited me this last week. It was fantastic to have her here and spend some quality mom/daughter time. Her trip was spent with Sounders game, plenty of fresh seafood, cooking muah some delicious dinners, Mariner's game, and a trip to "Tulip Town" for the world's largest Tulip Festival.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Tuesday I went to yet another Mariners baseball game. This time with a bunch of friends from Fox Sports Grill. It was a lot of fun. And the Mariners managed to win!!!

Opening Day at Safeco Field

Monday I got to go to the Opening Day for The Mariners. It was their first home game of the season, and a wildly attended game for the Seattle baseball team.

I enjoyed some candy, the beautiful weather, a cold beer, and some good baseball.
However, the M's were unable to pull off a win (...if they don't win it's a shame...).

Off to the Races

Sunday I went to my first ever horse races. We traveled south to the beautiful Emeral Downs Horse Racing tracks, which I learned is the only racing track in Washington, to watch (and maybe bet on) the strong steeds.

At first it was like a different planet with a weird foreign language, trifecta box, purses, and jockeys. However, I am a quick learner and within no time got the jist of it.

I decided it was time to man up and place some bets. I am not a huge risk taker, so my bets consisted of a whopping $2 (which is the minimum you have to bet). I was using my newly obtained strategy when placing my bets, but after a while I started betting on which horse had a shinny coat or great color scheme. All and all I probably broke even on the day's gambling.

Happy Easter

Today, I attended Easter Sunday Mass at Saint James Cathedral here in Seattle. It was my first time attending this monumental Catholic holiday in a Cathedral. It was like the Super Bowl of Masses.

Here are a few differences between the beloved church I grew up with in beautiful Blackfoot, Idaho, Saint Bernard's.

St. Bs - you know everyone by there by first and last name
St. Js - don't know anyone

St. Bs - Rarely see the church full
St. Js - have to get there early to get a seat

St. B's - 2 alter serves
St. J's - an army of alter serves

St. B's - choir consists of a lady named Donna
St. J's - Angel sent, 20 deep, choir ranging from alto to soprano

St. B's - whole property could fit inside St. J's

Here are some beautiful pictures of the Cathedral

Though the service was absolutely breath taking, I missed my family today while I attended church by myself. Hope you all spent the day with your families and loved ones.

Happy Easter to all!
